This week the annual Icelandic Farmers´ Assembly is being held in Reykjavík. At the request of VOR, the Icelandic organic farmers and growers association, the issue of GM crops was included in the assembly´s agenda. The assembly refrained from debating the issue but agreed a resolution reqesting the board of the National Farmers´ Union to prepare a conference on GMOs, pulling together professional information on the potential impact of this technology on Icelandic agriculture and its image.
